Installing Themes

From CyanogenMod Wiki

Note - You must be running Cyanogenmod before attempting any of these steps. I have only tested this on CM Recovery 1.4, and I am not sure if the themes will install correctly on anything lower (All Amon_Ra recoveries are based off CM-1.4 recovery). You have been warned!!

Note: Cyanogen and the rest of the CM support system are NOT responsible for any problems you have while running a theme. Do not post issues on the tracker if you are running a theme. You may find help in #cyanogenmod for the more popular themes, but please be up-front if you are running one.

Important note: DO NOT flash a theme for a different version of CM, e.g. Enoch 4.2.13 should not be tried on CM 4.2.14.1

[edit] Directions

It is strongly recommended that you perform a Nandroid backup before flashing any theme.

  1. Download a theme you like. Some popular ones are Enoch X, sir*mez, nebrada, Barina and gChrome. Make sure you download the correct one for your CM version!
  2. Copy the zipped theme file to the root of your SD card.
  3. Flash to it like you would a CM upgrade:
    • Enter Recovery Mode by starting up the phone holding Home+Power, then hit "Apply any zip from SD" and choose the theme zip. Allow it to finish (you may not get a 'finished flashing' message and it'll sit at 'Formatting Cache'; once you can see the menu, you can reboot).

[edit] Theme Uninstallation

If you decide you don't like a theme or want to go back to stock for any reason, re-flash the 1.6 base (to untheme the google apps/icons) and the latest version of CM (no need to wipe). Or, you can restore the nandroid backup you made before installing the theme, keeping in mind that any data/settings/etc. created since making the backup will not be saved.
