Tethering
From CyanogenMod Wiki
Tethering is using your phone as a Wifi-to-3G or BlueTooth-to-3G bridge or router. With a tethering application running, your phone can become a Wifi AP (Access Point) or BT (BlueTooth) PAN and provide internet access to another device such as a laptop or netbook.
As of this writing http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ is the only tethering application that has been updated to work with Donut (1.6) code.
USB Tethering is also included in cyanogenmod 4.2.3 or later. Select it via Settings: Wireless Controls: Internet Tethering. Windows users will need the drivers from the HTC Sync Upgrade for HTC Hero
Warnings:
- Wifi tethering can drain battery like nothing else. Even plugged in to charge the phone can drain the battery within half an hour. The phone will most likely get rather hot doing this, too. BlueTooth tethering uses much less battery.
- Tethering is against the TOS of most if not all the carriers that have Android devices.
- If you pay for data or have a cap, be careful. Even the same websites will likely push more data to a browser on a PC than on the phone.
