Hi.
I'm a Linux geek, Android installation and maintenance hacker (but not programmer, yet) and one of the buglist maintainers.
I've picked up more than a few things in the last 8 months, but mediawiki is not one of them. Expect anything I write to be factually accurate but horrible looking.
1.6 bases
The "HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base" is actually Enomther's full 1.6 rom that's rooted. The only reason to not use it anymore is signing issues with the apps, making you get the 'invalid signature' message when trying to upgrade Maps from market.
The "signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip" which is the official 1.6/DRC83 ADP1 rom from the HTC website. The official one is signed correctly, but won't work on Magics. Also, it has the 2.22.19.26i radio that it installs, which could brick a Rogers Dream with 3.x radio, and is just annoying for those of us that have upgraded to 2.22.23.02. Most importantly, if you boot into it, it'll replace your recovery with the stock ADP1 recovery, which won't flash custom roms.
The "DRC83_Defanged_base" is a hack of the 'official' one, minus the radio, recovery, and boot. It will install correctly signed apps but won't do anything else. If you accidentally reboot into it before flashing CM, it'll just sit on the carrier logo splash screen. The model check was also removed so it will work on Dream or Magic.
